Erik Lundström (1977-2011)

‎Saturday Erik Lundström died in a skiing accident (http://www.gd.no/nyheter/article5581221.ece) I heared the sad news Sunday.

"Just remember you have to go really, really fast!" hör jag Erik ropa när jag stakar iväg nerför starten till King of the mountain i Andermatt ifjol.

Easter

Before entering Riksgränsen on Friday I met Wille Lindberg for skiing and good times in Åre. Saturday gave us superb weather and nice skiing all over the mountain. Thanks Pärra, Anna and Karin.

Sunday was touring day with my uncle and three of his friends. Late start when the lift in Narvik didn’t open until 11 am. On the top we put the skins on and headed towards the Partians route. The snow was very heavy so we changed our plans and ended the tour with a nice run down from Rombakkstötta. Thanks Crilla, Stålis, Mats-Ola och Anders for a fun tour.

Andermatt summary

Tragedy struck us the 18th of March when my good friend Clas Ahlstrand was badly injured in a skiing accident in Andermatt. More the four weeks has passed since Clas was injured and we just cross our fingers that he will come out of this good.

Snow wise Andermatt this winter wasn't epic. No big storms and not much snow. But we got nice skiing anyway and Hjalmar enjoyed life in the mountains, riding pisten bully, tractors, ATVs, etc.

Last 2 weeks we stayed with wonderful Tim and Carolina who help us out a lot! Thank you guys!

Now I'm in Trondheim reloading the car before passing by Åre for one day of skiing with Wille Lindberg before I pick the family up in Sundsvall on the way up to Riksgränsen.

2 cool guys, Hjalmar and me.

Great sushi dinner at Tim and Carro's (and also our place) before everybody went home

First days in Andermatt

The first days was very intense, long and wonderful. We lived 3 km away from the ski resort so we used train, bike or our feet to get to the hill. But we enjoyed it and it’s no problem to sleep after the fine days with skiing and watching the kids.
The sun was shining the first time (and had been the week before) so we needed new snow, even if you still could find good skiing. The proof of good weather and skiing follows!

Andermatt

Finally! We arrived to our rented appartment in Hospental Saturday the 5th of March, tired but happy. Plenty of stuff to carry on the bus, the plane and the trains to get here. Thanks to my brother Alexander and our friend Björn everything was in order in the appartment and we could move in and hit the beds (Valdemar and Hjalmar fell asleep on the last train).

Comeback

It’s been a long time since I wrote and much has happen. New interesting work at the fire department in Trondheim, new appartment and most importantly a new baby and we got married! Valdemar was borned the 7th of November and we got married the 22th of January.

Speaking skiing, the winter started up perfectly at the same time as Valdemar arrived, cold and snowy, just as we like it. We had powder the first day in Vassfjellet and the season continued with more superb skiing in Meråker and Åre. The skiing around Trondheim was good early this season.

But everything didn’t started good. Just as we’re going down to the alps and the first competition in La Clusaz I had to do a surgery when the doctors had found a bad looking bump at my throat. But thanks to good doctors everything turned out fine and we could finally start to plan our trip down to the Alps.

But before we could do that we enjoyed good skiing with nice people around Trondheim and a weekend in Stranda.

Below follows pictures from the early winter until end of February.
