Riksgränsen is good!

Life in Riksgränsen is really good! Wednesday Wille Lindberg and me had a superb day. We skied plenty of old favourites and found a couple of new ones.

In the evening we went back to resort and hiked Nordal to ski a line which later was named Fat Dog. A steep line ending up with a big cliff. Intense. First time I skied it, and I don't think it has been skied in at least 4 years. That time Wille Lindberg skied it. Wednesday, me, Petter Petterson, Wille Lindberg and Jon Nilsson did it!

We stayed up late and played in the sun. This is the last pic of the day, me holding the sun for just a couple of seconds before it disapperes behind the mountains.

Yesterday we went skinning in the afternoon. We had two superb run in wonderful snow

TT is Sheriff in town. Stay friends with him!

Spring time in Riksgränsen

Last days storming has created perfect skiing. Cold and nice snow. The pic below is what Riksgränsen looked Friday

Petter Pettersson in one of many cliff jumps today.

Friday was a celebration to the spring, with the jumpsession "Pelikanflyget". A big kicker was built and skiers and snowboarders went crazy to the big crowds enjoy.

Hjalmar and me look at the other guys after I'd finished jumping.

Friday's celebration continued with a run at the evening with torches that we lit a big fire and sang to the spring! Beautiful!

Home at last!

Finally home in Riksgränsen this Wednesday after more than 4500 km of driving since last Sunday. A very nice welcome home with cold snow and bluebird. Thursday my brothers (Andre and Alexander), me and Petter Pettersson was at the top of Vassijåkka to have a nice evening ski tour in the sun.

Andre and me just under the top.

Petter Pettersson in big turns in the evening sun.

Yesterday, Petter Pettersson and me had a superb day cruising around in Riksgränsen skiing a lot funny runs and also hiking Nordal 3 times.

This much fun there is to ski in Riksgränsen!

Røldal Freeride Challenge Final result

Last Fridays result is final result since the avalanche conditions Sunday was very unstable. So the Demon won, I was 2nd, Torgrim Vole 3rd and Erik Lundström became 4th.

Always great party during Røldal Freeride Challenge (RFC) and this year was no exception. And no RFC if you don't go to the anual after party at the barn of Nils Petter Rabbe. In the pic Adam Widen, Christine Hargin and me are having fun, laughing at the big crocodile in the background

Sunday, the day after the party offered bluebird and plenty of new windloaded snow, which gave very unstable conditions. So only crusing in flat terrain.. In the pic the Demon and me posing in front of last year's final face.
After a couple of hours of cruising I started driving towards Riksgränsen with a pair of stops in Trondheim, Åre and Luleå before finally arriving home Wednesday.

RFC update - Sweden rules

Sweden rules after the qualification in Røldal! Erik "the Demon" Sunnerheim is leading, I'm 2nd and Erik Lundström had a really strong comeback and are 4th. Today is a hangover day for most of the riders since todays final is cancelled due to heavy snow. Can be a fun final tomorrow if the weather allows it!

Røldal Freeride Challenge

Finally the Røldal Freeride Challenge could run today. The qualification took place today, one day delayed due to the vulcano in Island when all ambulans helicopters became grounded. The organization had arranged with a backup ambulanse and it was game on. In the photo Wille, me and Erik "the Demon" Sunnerheim checks the others riders. Finally I stood an entire competition run and I'm really happy. Wille lost his way in the convex face and the Demon skied fast as usual.

The face of today is very steep and convex. Add that with hard pack and you had the playground for today.

Me behind the face. We will have the results at 7 pm. The weather forecast for tomorrow doesn't look good with plenty of snow. Which could give really good conditions for a final on sunday in deep powder.
Now it's time for barbeque!

King of the Mountain

Wasn't me today... Chinese downhill in andermatt today. I had big hopes after last week's great skiing to do a good run in the competition today. But I couldn't control the speed and tumble and lost a ski.

Havn't been writing in a while since the skiing been so good here during the easter. Now we are packing the car and are heading north. Next fun thing is freeride comp in Røldal...

Time to do good!

Nendaz freeride

Yesterday it was finally time for the Nendaz freeride. And it was perfect conditions: nice face, good snow and a big sun. But I just can't stay on my skis for a complete competion run. I took a silly fall after a small cliff at the top which almost ruined my day. But I did the best of the rest of the run and skied it well and finished of with this season first backflip. Even if I crashed it made my day.

Joonas continues to do good and won a big watch as Freestyle award for a big clean 360 of a cliff

Devil's chute

Wednesday we went out to have meeting with the Devil himself. It was time to ski one of the Devil's chute here in Andermatt. Joonas, Björn, Dan and me went out and had a really good 700 vertical meter chute run down to the road.

Björn and Dan in action

Björn enjoying the run.

Joonas above the entry to the chute.

This afternoon will Joonas and me load the car and go to the Nendaz Freeride. Really excited!

Last days in Valfrejus

One of the many nice chutes in Valfrejus

Martin and me are happy after yet another nice run

Last dinner in our small studio. Big french appartment...

Yet another of the many nice chutes

Hjalmar also likes the terrain in Valfrejus.

Now this wonderful trip is over and I'm back in Andermatt. Today is a good day, new snow and decent weather. My turn to babysit, but I can't complain I had a good week and I feel strong for the upcoming Nendaz freeride next weekend!

More Valfrejus

Yesterday was bad weather, which didn't gave that much of snow so we went down to the valley and the city of Modane were we found a fotball and had us one session playing "gris"

Today has been really good. Perfect snow and okay visbility. Tomorrow should be better. But we had us a good skiing day.

Last run of the day... Big chute = big fun!

Valfrejus

Sunday I went to small resort Valfrejus to meet up with Martin Söderqvist. We have had two good weather days (monday and tuesday). The speedflyers loves Valfrejus.

Hjalmar Olofsson also likes the terrain in Valfrejus

Martin Webrant is supervising the kitchen while Martin Söderqvist is checking the photos of the day.

Our appartment wasn't the biggest one so the first breakfast we had outside the supermarket.

Pics from Flaine

I was in Flaine in Februar entering the Flaine Freeride. I crashed in the comp, but the snow was good... Peter Boman and me had a good time and here are a couple of photos showing that.

I was mad after the crash, but it's hard being angry when we found good snow after the race.

Winter report

We arrived in Andermatt early january after a long drive from Sweden. Entire January offered sweet skiing in Andermatt. My girlfriend Anna and me took turns watching our son Hjalmar. And of course has he been up on Gemstock.

Joonas Karhuuma and me have skied a lot this winter, and also travelled around doing freeride competitions. Flaine Freeride, Engadin Snow and Mystic Freeride so far. Joonas has doing well, 3rd, 7nd and 2nd is his score so far. I havn't done that well yet. 3 races and 3 crashes so far... Bad. But still time to do better.

Except comps I been to Chamonix for a couple of nice days skiing with guests of Langley travel and Alpingaraget.

Most of the winter so far has been spend in Andermatt where I have gathered plenty of material with my helmet cam. Good fun, those things!
